Start early to the highlight of Lhasa – the majestic Potala Palace, this sacred and mysterious palace dates back to the 7th century and has been the spiritual center of the Tibetan people since then. Take some time to learn more about the former residence of the Dalai Lama. Then, head to the Jokhang Temple, the most sacred and revered Buddhist temple for locals and pilgrims, with a history of more than 1,300 years. The Barkhor Street surrounding the temple is a bustling commercial district and a popular bazaar, with hundreds of pilgrims coming every day to perform ceremonies and patronize shops and stalls selling traditional handicrafts and delicacies. Next is the last stop, Ani Cangkong Nunnery, built by the 7th-century Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo for meditation. Watch the skills and art of the resident nuns, who produce goods to sell to make a living.

Note: Photography and video recording are prohibited inside the Potala Palace. It is prohibited to wear skirts, shorts, sunglasses, and hats.

The monastery contains treasures such as porcelain, thangkas, scriptures, bronzes, Buddha statues, armor, weapons, etc. It is an important center for understanding Tibetan civilization and a source of information and inspiration for local people.

Debates between monks are a planned activity during the afternoon visit to the famous Sera Monastery. Debates provide monks with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and promotion. Visitors are usually shocked by the intensity of the debates, and they will clap and push their companions for answers.
