Travel Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Hangzhou Capital International Airport (PEK) or Hangzhou International Airport (PKX), your dedicated tour guide will greet you outside the baggage claim area. During the transfer to your pre-booked four or five-star hotel in the city center, your guide will share insights about Hangzhou’s rich history and key landmarks. The remainder of the day is yours to explore this fascinating city at your own pace.
Meals included: None
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel to start today’s tour. The first stop is West Lake, a famous landmark in Hangzhou. We will stop here to see the Red Carp Pond, one of the ten major attractions of West Lake. The Red Carp Pond is named after the thousands of red carps living in the water and is a great place for taking photos.
West Lake is a perfect place for a leisurely boat ride to enjoy the tranquility from a different perspective brought by natural scenery, historic pagodas, and stunning pavilions. Sights along the way include Three Pools Mirroring the Moon and Su Causeway, scenes that are reminiscent of scenes depicted by literati and philosophers.
From West Lake, take a leisurely drive to Feilai Peak. You will be amazed at the persistence of those who created hundreds of ancient Buddhist stone carvings in different periods. You will be deeply impressed by Lingyin Temple. As one of the most famous Buddhist temples in China, Lingyin Temple is impressive in its scale and design. In the scent of incense, you will be amazed by the ornate painted halls and ceilings. Your guide will share the fascinating historical legends behind the temple.
The final stop on today’s adventure is a picturesque tea garden surrounded by verdant tea fields. Watch tea leaves grow up close on the rolling terraces and even pick some leaves if your visit coincides with harvest season. Learn about the importance of tea in Chinese culture and customs at the China National Tea Museum, which houses a collection of teas, teaware and tea brewing machines. After touring Hangzhou, you will head to the beautiful water town of Wuzhen and the tranquil and charming Xizha Scenic Area. Enjoy your stay at your booked hotel.
Meals included: Breakfast
Note: If the activity attraction is closed on the day, the itinerary may be adjusted.
China loves its ancient towns and you’ll understand why after a visit to Wuzhen Water Town. After breakfast, your guide will take you to Wuzhen. Wuzhen’s waterways and ancient bluestone streets are beautiful and quaint, a postcard-worthy sight to behold. The well-preserved buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties make visitors feel like they’ve stepped back in time. Wuzhen is special for many reasons, not the least of which is the classic workshops where visitors can observe the traditional craftsmanship of making everyday items such as sauces, cloth and silk. The traditional story continues in the courtyard of Wuzhen Xizha Theater. Visitors can sit around wooden tables and chairs, lush vegetation, and antique decorations.
There are other optional activities as well. Book a canal cruise* to see the beautiful ancient town from a completely different perspective. After today’s activities, you will be transferred to Tongxiang Railway Station to catch the high-speed train to Huangshan.
Once you arrive in Huangshan, you can follow a local guide to stroll through Tunxi Old Street. Be sure to take this opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, taste food or tea, study local crafts, and even order calligraphy souvenirs.
Meals included: Breakfast
If the weather permits, you can wake up early and start your day by watching the magnificent sunrise on the top of Huangshan. Afterwards, take the cable car down the mountain to Hongcun, which locals believe is as beautiful as “a village in a Chinese painting.” Wander through the stone-paved alleys, admire the well-preserved Ming and Qing dwellings, and immerse yourself in the picturesque countryside scenery in the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and you will find out why.
Meals included: Breakfast
After breakfast and hotel check-out,
After the visit Hongcun, you will be transferred to Hongcun airport to take a flight back home or to your next destination in China.
Meals included: Breakfast
Note: For small group tour participants, a transfer service to the airport can be arranged upon request.
